GRANDER supports well construction in Cambodia
Clean drinking water for a further 851 people
In 2004, Fritz Kieninger, founder of the KAKIHE association, visited Cambodia for the first time. Deeply concerned about the poor water situation of the country, he decided to put a water aid project in place.
About 39% of the population of Cambodia still has no access to clean water. The majority of them live in rural areas. Yet, water is a human right and the source of life. This is also the opinion of GRANDER in Jochberg who gladly support the project "Water for Life" by the association KAKIHE.
The well financed by GRANDER - Number 208 – was constructed this summer in the village of Ta Yeung in the area of Som Raung. It is 32 meters deep, which, like all other wells, was constructed by a company in Cambodia. Through the support by GRANDER a further 851 people will be provided with clean drinking water in the south of Cambodia.
The association utilizes many events and talks to inform others about the misery, but also the joy of life shown by the village dwellers in Cambodia. The “Five Bridge Run” taking place in fall in Upper Austria this year is such an event. The 10-km-run is meant to remind people of the stretch of land in Cambodia, that children walk each day in order to reach drinking water. GRANDER is supplying the 450 runners with GRANDER revitalized water and drinking bottles. 100% of the proceeds from this running event will be used for the construction of further wells.
“Every human should have access to clean water, since water is the basis for our life – even more important: water is life and a basic right of every human being,” Johann Grander, Managing Director and Family Spokesperson of the GRANDER company, explains. “Even if we can’t help out everywhere, through our support of KAKIHE association, we are making progress for many families in Cambodia in terms of supplying clean drinking water.”
